Coriolis meters measure mass flow directly, but the right configuration depends on more than pipe size. Start with the process conditions and destination requirements before comparing quotations.
1. Define the fluid and operating range
Record the fluid name, minimum and maximum mass or volumetric flow, density, viscosity, solids content and gas entrainment. A meter should be sized around the normal operating range while still covering the required turndown.
2. Select materials for compatibility
316L stainless steel suits many water, oil, food and chemical duties. Hastelloy or titanium may be appropriate for corrosive media. Confirm wetted-part compatibility, gasket material and cleaning chemistry together.
3. Match accuracy, pressure and temperature
For custody transfer, batching and dosing, ask how accuracy is specified across the actual flow range. Confirm maximum operating pressure, process temperature, ambient temperature and the calibration documentation supplied with the instrument.
4. Confirm connections and installation
Specify flange standard, threaded or Tri-Clamp connection, face-to-face length, line size and available straight-run space. Coriolis meters generally do not require long upstream straight runs, but the installation still needs support and protection from excessive vibration.
5. Check hazardous-area and communication needs
For hazardous locations, identify the zone, gas or dust group and temperature class. Also specify HART, RS485, Modbus, pulse or frequency outputs and the integration requirements for the DCS, PLC or SCADA system.
6. Compare the complete supply scope
Ask for a datasheet, dimensional drawing, calibration certificate, material certificates, hazardous-area documents, warranty terms, lead time and export packing details. Comparing the complete scope prevents an apparently low quotation from creating delays later.
Send the fluid, flow range, pressure, temperature, connection and destination market. We can prepare a practical shortlist and coordinate the next quotation steps.
